The 1.18 release of the WordPal Vocabulary Builder, which featured an additional 167 vocabulary words, a 60-day unconditional money back guarantee, and a one-year limited warranty against defects was released.

 

10/17/07
The vocabulary database included with the WordPal Vocabulary Builder program was updated to fix a crash that could occur when playing the antonym quiz on the 1.16 version. The problem occurred because two of the new word topics that included antonyms did not have an antonym topic specified. To prevent this from ever occurring again, the vocabulary database creator program that is used in-house was updated to automatically detect this. Besides the above, the Internet links in the vocabulary database that no longer pointed to a valid web page were updated. The corrected vocabulary database is dated October 16, 2007.

 

09/16/07
The 1.16 version, which adds 107 new vocabulary words and WIndows Vista compatibility, was released. In addition, the deadline for free software and vocabulary updates was extended for both past and present buyers until the end of 2008. As of this version, out of the more than 3600 words in the vocabulary database, 932 are SAT words and 1158 are GRE words.

The 1.14 version, which adds 111 new vocabulary words, was released. In addition, the deadline for free software and vocabulary updates was extended for both past and present buyers until the end of 2007. As of this version, out of the more than 3500 words in the vocabulary database, 857 are SAT words and 1083 are GRE words.

The web site was updated to include the advantages that the WordPal Vocabulary Builder program offers over the competition.

 

07/16/06
The 1.12 version, which corrects a minor quiz statistics display issue on the demo version, fixes a few minor Internet link issues on the Windows version, and adds 76 new words was posted. In addition, the 30 day limited warranty has been extended to 90 days. As of this version of the more than 3400 words in the vocabulary database, 793 are SAT words and 1008 are GRE words. The 1.11 version, which corrects over a half dozen minor problems with the 1.10 release, and adds another 26 words was released. With the new version, the missed and marked word lists once again work across program restarts. In addition, when the program is installed over the top of itself, only one application start icon will appear on the Pocket PC.

The 1.10 version was posted with a new vocabulary database that contains four minor changes. In the vocabulary database dated June 24, 2006, the sentence for haberdasher was corrected, the sentence for koine was changed so as to not give away the answer, a broken link to a site containing architectural terms was removed, and the link to the Wikipedia music dynamics article was updated.

The 1.10 version, which has 102 additional words, user selectable screen colors, and the ability to click on any answer choice of a missed question was posted. In addition, the Windows version now supports clickable Internet links and two screen sizes. As of this version, out of the more than 3300 words in the vocabulary database, 725 words are SAT words and 936 are GRE words.

The 1.05 version, which has 171additional words, keyboard support for the word order quiz, and allows the Pocket PC version to be installed to a storage card, was posted. As of this version, out of the more than 3200 words in the vocabulary database, 668 are SAT words and 874 are GRE words.

The Pocket PC demo version was updated to include a default userconfig.dat file, so that the user configuration file will be removed when the Pocket PC demo is uninstalled.

 

03/19/06
The demo version of the WordPal Vocabulary Builder has now been posted. Except for a purchase screen and a vastly reduced vocabulary, the demo version is the same as the retail version. In addition, the 1.04 retail version was posted with an updated readme file.

The 1.04 version of the WordPal Vocabulary Builder has now been posted. The number of SAT words in the vocabulary database increased from 366 to 585 and the number of GRE words increased from 646 to 774. In addition, a couple of very minor bugs were fixed. The 1.03 version of the WordPal Vocabulary Builder has now been posted. The flashcards can now be set to automatically advance every second, a memory leak was fixed, and a couple of other minor bugs were resolved.

The 1.02 version of the WordPal Vocabulary Builder has now been posted. A minor bug was fixed in the antonym quiz, in which two similar answer choices could be presented. In addition, there was a remote possibility that the antonym or synonym quiz could display the same apparent answer choice twice, because the word had two similar definitions.

 

02/28/06
The 1.01 version of the WordPal Vocabulary program has now been posted. Grammatical corrections and wording improvements were made to about one percent of the vocabulary entries and a couple of minor bugs were fixed. With this release, the password protection for the mindpal web site is being removed and the program will be available for sale.

 

02/23/06

The first public release of the WordPal Vocabulary Builder, version 1.00, is now available for download. As of this version, all words in the vocabulary database have an example sentence. Besides this, the word order quiz was improved, two minor bugs were fixed, a digital code signing certificate was added, and some minor changes were made to the software license and title screen.

 

02/05/06

The 0.90 beta release of the WordPal Vocabulary Builder is now available for download. Provided that no bugs are reported, this version will become the first customer release. Major changes include support for Windows ME, additional sound files and words, and over a dozen bug fixes, including a fix for a divide by zero error that could cause the program to crash while playing the odd man out quiz. The 0.80 beta release of the WordPal Vocabulary Builder is now available for download. This version includes support for SAT and GRE word lists, over a dozen other enhancements, and nine bug fixes. Windows 98 and Windows Me are still not supported.

 

12/09/05

The 0.70 beta release of the WordPal Vocabulary Builder is now available for download. This version adds a couple of features that were requested, including the ability to review the last question you missed and the ability to skip answering a question. Other changes include a more intuitive method of swapping choices in the word order quiz and new "Acknowledgments" screen. Besides the above, the vocabulary database was updated and a number of bugs that were found during testing this past week were fixed.

The web site has also changed to allow purchasing and downloading a WordPal bundle which includes both the Windows and Pocket PC versions. It also allows registered WordPal Pocket PC users to download the CAB file to bypass the Windows ActiveSync installation.

The 0.60 beta release of the WordPal Vocabulary Builder is now available for download. This version fixes a handful of problems and includes a couple of minor improvements. See the changes.txt file after installing the software for full details.

The 0.50 beta release of the WordPal Vocabulary Builder is now available. If you have received an email invitation to try out the beta version, use the promotional code you were given and follow the same steps as if you were purchasing the platform of your choice. Instead of being directed to a purchasing screen, you will be sent an email with a verification link. Once you click the link, your download should start.
